Stories of Healing
Walter's Story
"I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and I was referred to ROA. I went to
see Dr. Anthony and he recommended that I get into a study. So I went from having an interview with him and with
the nurse and from there we decided that radiation would be the best course
for me to go with. That was how I wound up going
to Radiation Oncology.
They notified me from the beginning that I was going to be a study. I had to agree to the study, which I did, because I felt it was the right way to go and it would help somebody else in the future. The results would be published and it would help somebody else in the future and I was all for that. That was how I ended up working on the study.
I think the most helpful thing was that the people were so friendly and encouraging. They were there for any question I had. Anything that I felt that might be going wrong or whatever, they were there, right there to know whether I was right or I was wrong and which way to proceed.
The doctor had explained to me all my options, like
which way to go and which was the best option for me. They were very good at it, they even let me borrow
their books. I sat down and read all the complications of what could
possibly go wrong and the doctors were very, very helpful. They gave me all the information that anybody could
ask for."
