Our Team Helping Hands

Adjusting to a diagnosis of cancer is never easy. Even with excellent support from family and friends, there are often unanswered questions about coping and how to keep going.

Radiation Oncology Associates is committed to providing you with the experts you need and the care you deserve. The Radiation Oncology Social Work Program at ROA was designed to help our patients cope with their diagnoses and match them with community resources.

The Radiation Oncology Social Worker provides short-term counseling at no charge as part of the services of the Radiation Oncology team. Additionally, he or she refers patients to appropriate community resources, such as home health care, transportation, housing, medical equipment, hospice, etc. He or she assists patients with Social Security applications, locates support groups, and prepares advance directives. The social worker frequently provides education to patients, staff, and the community on dealing with a cancer diagnosis. The social worker advocates for patients who are having difficulty with pain control, finances, or dealing with the complex and sometimes bewildering medical system.

We look out for our patients so that they can focus on their health and their lives.

To participate in the Oncology Social Work Program, please request a referral from your physician or ask your nurse or therapist.
